A WORD FROM OUR CEO.
On November 2020, month of lychee, the SMMC has successfully completed the lychee campaign with zero damage, which started earlier than expected. As every year, the operators have scheduled two conventional vessels: the Baltic Klipper and the Atlantic Klipper, departing from Toamasina. Madagascar, through the Groupement des Exportateurs de Litchis (GEL), was able to meet the quantity ordered for this year. This has allowed us to maintain confidence in international markets.
The Société de Manutention des Marchandises Conventionnelles (SMMC), under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, Tourism and Meteorology (MTTM), continues to improve the quality of its services. An innovation of structures as well as the acquisition of new operating equipment, such as elevators and trailers, were implemented throughout 2020. We wanted the lychee, a product of future, rose gold from Madagascar, benefits from an increasingly reliable and higher quality export “chain”.
In the same vein, I personally wanted the company to gradually access the dematerialization and digitalization of work procedures. Now is the time for our national companies to take a leap into the future so that the work environment for all employees and the quality of our services meet the expectations of a changing world.
Here is a concrete illustration: From now on, through the TradeNet tool of the GasyNet Company, the SMMC is able to centralize all the information its customers need from a single electronic counter. A brand new system that will allow fast, transparent and efficient processing of information about goods and operations.
Because the most beautiful projects are written together, we would like to thank you wholeheartedly for the trust you have placed in us to bring your projects to life. The road is not easy, ups and downs, black and white, but for us the greatest reward is your satisfaction. Every smile gives meaning to our work. We do everything we can to make your project a memorable success.
And to conclude, on behalf of the Board of Directors, as well as the entire General Management team, and on my own behalf, I would like to express my gratitude to all my employees, for their constant dedication, hard work and their perseverance. I especially thank all those who took part in the organization of these lychee loading operations, for the immense efforts you made during the campaign to put the new measures in place.
Thank you for your support and your personal commitments, which allow us to do our job. I am really proud to have you as a collaborator. I also thank the outside speakers and the experts who have worked closely with us and have been extremely diligent. Thank you !
