SMMC was established with the passing of Decree No. 2007-867, opening the door to a new era of business opportunities. This decree granted SMMC the authority to explore new markets and reach a wider audience, both locally and internationally. Over the years, SMMC has gone on to become one of the most successful companies in the region, thanks in no small part to the hard work, dedication, and foresight of every employee. With its commitment to innovation and excellence, SMMC is leading the charge in the creation of a better future for all.
We were established in 2007 as part of the reform policy for the port sector in Madagascar, and more specifically for the Port of Toamasina. We opened for business on February 15th, 2008 and operate as a commercial corporation governed by the laws of public limited companies, with majority state ownership. SMMC has been granted the exclusive privilege of handling non-containerized goods, thereby becoming one of the primary concessionaries at the Port of Toamasina. We provide professional port handling services, aiming to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
