Our vision and values
Our values are written into the genetic code of the SMMC Company. Even today, they are expressed in the daily life of all teams across Madagascar.
Passion
If for more than a decade the SMMC has devoted itself to a single profession, it is above all out of passion. Passion for what the Port as a point of entry and point of exit of a country brings to women and men. Passion also for a job that touches on people and culture.
Innovation
Innovation is also one of our founding values. We will never forget that our company was created to facilitate trade between Madagascar and abroad. Innovation is essential because we are at the heart of the national economy, and such a responsibility imposes an endless quest that always calls for more performance.
Openness
Another value that has guided us since the creation of the company over a decade ago is Openness. Listening to users and partners and understanding their cultures, opening up to others and enriching oneself through difference, are an absolute requirement in order to meet performance requirements around the world. A requirement inseparable from our profession and our mission.
Excellence
These three values are inseparable from a fourth, the quest for Excellence. A value that permeates all of our businesses and that translates into a way of being and a constant search for perfection. We all share this desire to surpass ourselves to offer the best to our customers.
Responsibility
Finally, whether it is to innovate or to undertake, our company has always done it with Responsibility. The fundamental concern of SMMC is the safety and well-being of its employees because boasting of operational excellence already expresses a fundamental concern for goodwill and safety towards all employees. But our sense of responsibility goes far beyond that. As a national leader in our profession, we have, more than any other, the duty to preserve the beauty of our country and to contribute to the well-being of the communities around us.
Our code of conduct
Our Code of Conduct sets out a clear set of principles that guide our professional conduct. It is rooted in our values and beliefs and underpins everything we do. The code provides the ethical and behavioral framework on which we base our decisions on a daily basis.
Our Code of Conduct contains five simple guiding principles covering all our spheres of activity, namely:
- Work with goodwill with each other ;
- Serve strictly our clients and third parties ;
- Demonstrate professional integrity ;
- Maintain our leadership position in our business ;
- Respect our human capital.
By upholding the commitments dictated by our Code of Conduct, we protect and enhance the reputation of SMMC and can play a key role in creating an environment where our employees, customers and the communities where we operate can work together to a better world.
